In an eight-to-five vote last week, city councilors rejected the Community Stabilization Act, which would have imposed controls on rent increases in rental properties with more than six units.
CSA supporters erupted in loud protest following the vote, prompting police officers to escort several from the lanella Chamber where the council's weekly meeting was held. Several dozen protesters remained outside of the hall chanting "vote for people, not for profit," while the councilors took a recess from their meeting.
CSA supporters are now weighing their next move, according to Roxan McKinnon, assistant coordinator of the Boston Tenant Coalition.
