Qld: Japanese tourist abducted and raped in Noosa National Park

A 30-year-old Japanese tourist was abducted and raped in a 13-hour ordeal in the Noosa
National Park on the Sunshine Coast, on Christmas Day.

Police say the woman, who was on a 12-month holiday to Australia, had been walking
in the park at dusk on Tuesday when she became lost.

She asked a man for directions and he told her he'd walk her out of the park.

But instead, he hit her over the head with a tree branch and dragged her back to his
illegal campsite about 20 metres from the walking track.

The woman was assaulted and raped at knifepoint before being released around 7.30am
yesterday and raising the alarm at a nearby hostel.

She's recovering today in Noosa Hospital but police have so far failed to find the
man or his campsite.
