SA: Rann deceiving SA over nuclear waste dump, says McGauran

The war of words between the federal government and South Australian Premier MIKE RANNover a proposed nuclear waste dump has intensified.

The federal government says the Premier is deceiving South Australians about the amountof waste to be stored at the site while Mr RANN says the government is not telling thefull story.

Mr RANN says an 250 additional truckloads of waste from Sydney's Lucas Heights reactorwill be sent to the Woomera dump, a claim denied by Federal Science Minister PETER MCGAURAN.

Mr MCGAURAN says the transport of waste from the decommissioned reactor won't happenfor at least 30 years.

The federal government's expected to announce next month that Woomera is its preferredlocation for the waste dump.
